When President Arroyo declared a long holiday break, I didn’t know if I will appreciate it or not. I looked forward to the after- Christmas-dates to find opportunities for my business. Just before New Year, I was expecting that I was able to find at least one investor or a loaning company that will suit my preference. Then, I would rest and celebrate New Year with a lot of noise! But I was wrong! Companies took the breaks and my friends went on their vacations!
I have no choice but to bite the season break.
A friend called me up, treated me to a fine dining and lectured me about opulence and turbulence. My already giving up spirit suddenly soared up again and said ” I will not give up.”.
I took the bus to travel South again, planned to go up North before New Year for a sleeping session days in our vacation house. This is to reframe and mindset my brain and my body again because I was pretty exhausted in work!
I was handed Bob Ong’s Stainless Longaniza, Dr. Spencer’s Who Moved My Cheese, Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich and a brain twister kit. With them inside my back pack, I took the road to South of Manila, and planned to go up North for a long and cold vacation in Baguio.
I finished reading the books, and re-read the Who Moved my Cheese twice! I needed change and I have to go with the change, I resolved!
Sometimes fear slip slyly in my mind. Haw (the littlepeople character in Who moved my Cheese) said, “What would I do if I am not afraid?” I will find another cheese! Yes, I will find another cheese.
Bob Ong said,”Maraming makagagawa ng kaya kong gawin. Ngunit and magagawa ko para sa sarili ay AKO lamang ang pwedeng gumawa.”-stainless longaniza p.97
The Lord in His Word the Bible said,” Be still and know that I am God.”
I didn’t make it to Baguio because of the extreme cold but my long christmas break I spent with the Badjaos, with the children and with my family was a very fruitful and unforgettable, it’s all because of what I learned deeply during that long holiday break. Thanks to President Gloria Arroyo!
For those who wanted to take the road less traveled, and to those who experienced failure and disappointments, I recommend reading Who Moved My Cheese by Dr. Spencer. It’s a children story between 2 mice and 2 littlepeople in search for “cheese”-the most important thing in their lives. You will learn a lot in relationship, management and leadership.
My friend said to me, those who are geared towards opulence normally experience turbulence.
